Mary Frances De Carriere

Mary Frances de Carriere, age 65, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at her home.

Private interment was held at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, 31 W 6th Street, Medford, Oregon 97501.

Mary was born November 29, 1944 in Oregon City, Oregon to Marvin & Nadine Bates. She graduated from high school in Mesa, Arizona and as a young lady she loved horses. On June 27, 1968 in Mesa, Arizona she married John P. de Carriere. She lived in Aloha, Oregon for 30 years and worked as a quality control supervisor specializing in military applications at Intel and later for Chandler. She then returned to Arizona where she lived until 2000 when she moved from Apache Junction to Grants Pass.

Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Beacon Hill Ward.

She volunteered with American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Mary was known for her tenacity and loved to help people.

In addition her husband, John P. de Carriere of Grants Pass; she is survived by two sons, John T. de Carriere of Eugene and Jamieson B. de Carriere of Grants Pass; three daughters, Nicole de Carriere of Eugene, Jackie Cragmiel of Springfield, and Dana Eden de Carriere of Grants Pass; her mother, Nadine Jensen of Vancouver, Washington; two sisters, Cathy Bieryla of California and Bonnie Schmidt of Washington; a brother, Stephen Bates of South Carolina; and five grandchildren.
