Mary Ella Fulmer

June 24, 1930 — October 3, 2015

Mary Ella Fulmer, 85, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Florence, Oregon, on October 3rd, 2015, with both of her daughters at her side.

She was born in Durango, Colorado on June 24th, 1930 to Steven and Lilah Mullin.
She was raised in Durango with her older brother Joseph. After graduating from Durango High School in 1948, she moved to Albuquerque, NM to work in the civilian support department of the Atomic Energy Commission on Sandia Base.

She met a young and handsome Navy communications officer with bright blue eyes while on a coffee break, and they fell in love at a company baseball game. She and Thomas “Mike” Fulmer were married in August of 1950.

Together they reared four children, and moved all over the States as a Navy family, finally settling in Grants Pass, Oregon in August of 1977.
They bought a house there and made it their home, always returning there after numerous sojourns to other states.
In August of 2000, they celebrated 50 years of marriage in their beautiful, flower-filled backyard. Their entire family was present to share the joy with them. It was a beautiful celebration of enduring love.

Mary liked to stay busy after her retirement as an office manager of a large road construction company. She learned to craft and crochet. She canned jams, jellies and home grown tomatoes every summer. She loved to sew and always had time for a phone conversation and a prayer.
She discovered a love and talent for china painting and was awarded several blue ribbons for her beautiful and detailed paintings.
She enjoyed getting coffee with friends and going to and hosting Bible studies. She was involved in Aglow for several years and served on the area board for the Grants Pass chapter.

One of her great loves was getting her family all together to share a meal. She loved to cook, and her spaghetti dinners made with homegrown tomatoes were legendary to friends and family alike. Her homemade soups soothed many sore throats, and you were never hungry in Mary’s house. The coffee was always on, and she’d feed you and make you feel at home.

A Private graveside service and interment will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. She will be buried next to her husband, who preceded her in death on October 23rd, 2006.

There will be a public time of fellowship, coffee and remembrance on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Black Bear Diner in Medford.

She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Mike” Fulmer; her parents, Steven and Lilah Mullin, her brother Joseph Mullin, and her granddaughter Tammy White.
She is survived by her four children, her eight grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.

She had a generous heart and a giving spirit. Her light never dimmed, her loyalty never faded, and she never, ever gave up. She will be greatly missed.
