Mary E. Bennett Bradfield

Mary E. Bennett Bradfield, age 86, of Hillsboro, Oregon died Friday, January 22, 2010 in Hillsboro.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Woodville Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born January 3, 1924 at the logging community of Kerry, Oregon. As a member of the “Greatest Generation,” she lived through momentous times in our country. After completing high school in Kelso, Washington, she worked first for Boeing and later, Vanport City shipyards in Portland as part of the war manufacturing effort. She was a proud patriot. She joined the United States Army, and after completing training in Iowa, was station in Boca Raton, Florida during World War II.
She lived in Gold Hill for six years during the late 1940s and returned to the Rogue Valley in 1981 living in Rogue River until 2005. During that time she also lived in Grants Pass for three years. In 2005 she moved to St. Helens and in 2007 moved to Hillsboro.

Mary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years and had a strong abiding faith in the Savior Jesus Christ.

Later in her life, she traveled extensively with her husband and family. Mary had a studious mind, a zeal for learning and gardening, and a great love of life.

Survivors include two sons, James L. Bradfield of Rainier, Oregon and Thomas Bradfield of Kennewick, Washington; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Hollis Bennett of Rogue River and Doug Bennett of Thailand; and a sister, Gladys Hope Maitland of Cave Junction.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest L. Bradfield Jr. and her eldest son, John D. Drapp.

She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
