Mary Brown

January 9, 1948 — December 29, 2017

Mary Brown

Mary was born in Glendale, California, in 1948. She had lived in the
Grants Pass area since 1964. She previously lived in numerous other
places, including New York, the Sudan, the Congo, & Ethiopia, due to her
parents being missionaries with Sudan Interior Mission.

After graduating from New Hope Christian School, Mary attended Multnomah
School of the Bible (now a university) for three years, followed by
three years of training for being a school teacher at Southern Oregon
State College and earning a degree in music there. She did work as a
book keeper and gave piano lessons to many students over the years. She
also played the piano at numerous churches over the years. She was an
accomplished musician. She was an amazing seamstress, making the groom
and grooms' men sports coats for her wedding and many articles of
clothing after that. She made elaborate wedding and anniversary cakes
for quite a few people. She was also at home giving haircuts. She
home-schooled her two children and tutored others.

Mary was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship in their Good News Clubs
from the 70's on, teaching and making visualized song posters. She
taught a Sunday School class for many years at various churches. She was
willing to face down the political establishment for the sake of the
unborn and was twice arrested for her participation in protest pickets.
She was proofreader for the short-lived local weekly, the Apple Rogue
Times. She was also an excellent secretary, serving the Constitution
Party of Oregon in that capacity from its inception in 2000. There
wasn't anything she couldn't do if she put her mind to it. She was a
Proverbs 31 woman, who stood by her husband and helped him in everything
he did.

Mary also liked to read, hike, garden, and do puzzles with her grand kids.

Mary is survived by her spouse of 47 years, Jack Alan Brown Jr, her son,
Jack Alan Brown III (aka Jay Brown), both of Grants Pass, & Kathleen
Ruth (aka Katee) Cobb of Wildwood, Alberta, Canada. She is also survived
by her sister Ruth Wagnell and her brother James Nash. She has nine
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph E Nash,
and her mother, Wilma M Nash.

A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Wonder Bible Chapel in Wonder.
