Martha K. "Martie" Jurgens

June 13, 1927 — October 13, 2007

Martha K. Jurgens went Home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2007. She
passed away peacefully after a long illness.

Martie was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 13, 1927. In her younger
years, she was an accomplished pianist and equestrian who enjoyed summers
at her family’s cabin at Gull Lake, Michigan. She graduated from Wheaton
College in Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics in 1949.
After college she taught junior high school in Hammond, Indiana.

Martie moved to Southern California in 1955 and taught in both the Los
Angeles and Paramont Unified School districts. She retired from teaching
in 1962 to become a full-time mother and homemaker. In the late 1970’s
she returned to teaching as a substitute in the Fullerton and Anaheim
Unified School Districts.

Martie was a long-time resident of the City of Placentia in Orange County,
California. She moved to Southern Oregon in 1998.

Mrs. Jurgens is survived by her two daughters, Jill Cavanagh and Dawn
Sommer; son-in-law, Paul Cavanagh; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and
David Lincoln; and three grandsons, Brandon, Daniel and John.

Martie was a loving and devoted mother, and was known for her outgoing
personality and sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by her loved
ones and those that knew her.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Royale Gardens Health and
Rehabilitation Center and her caring physician, Haitham Haddad, MD.
Mrs. Jurgens will be laid to rest at Loma Vista Memorial Park in
Fullerton, California. Local arrangements are under the direction of Hull
and Hull Funeral Directors.
