Marion S. Rudig, age 81, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. Thomas Wm. Hirsch, Pastor officiating. Private inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Marion was born November 1, 1930 in Welcome, Minnesota to Benjamin & Hazel Rudig. He grew up and attended schools in Welcome until joining the United States Navy serving in the Gulf of Mexico. After his honorable discharge, he lived in New Jersey until returning to Welcome where he met Elaine McGinnis. They were married July 12, 1952 in Yankton, South Dakota and she preceded him in death on August 28, 1995.. In 1962 he moved from Fairmont, Minnesota to Grants Pass, Oregon. He worked in local plywood mills and retired from Tim Ply. On November 14, 1998 in Grants Pass he married Carole Wiener.

He loved college football and enjoyed fixing things and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, Carole Rudig of Grants Pass, Oregon; he is survived by three sons, Tom (Laura) Rudig of Portland, Oregon, David (Elizabeth) Rudig of Seattle, Washington, and Roger (Heidi) Rudig of Merrit Island, Florida; three daughters, Chrystal Rudig of Half Moon Bay, California, Paula Sanford of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Angela Rudig of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Nelda (Jack) Zimmer of Fairmont, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
