Marilyn May Olsiewski

July 13, 1937 — February 17, 2012

Marilyn May Olsiewski, age 74, of Grants Pass, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.



Private family services will be held at a later date.



Marilyn was born July 13, 1937 in Santa Cruz, California to Lloyd & May Rains. She grew up in Santa Cruz and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1955. She then attended and graduated from Kaiser Nursing School in Oakland, California. Marilyn moved from Lafayette, California in 1968 to Oregon living short stints in Ashland, Lake Oswego, and Medford before finally settling in Grants Pass in 1973. She was employed as a registered nurse (RN) at Rogue Valley Medical Center for the majority of her nursing career as the night nursing supervisor for over 30 years.



Her hobbies included gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling in her younger years.



Survivors include a son, Robert A. Olsiewski and wife Lisa of Medford, Oregon; a daughter, Julie A. Maphet and husband CJ of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sisters, Marge Ulrich of San Jose, California and Sue Rains of Capitola, California; a brother, Bob Rains and wife Eileen of Copperopolis, California; two grandchildren, Jacob Olsiewski and Andrew Maphet; and four nieces, Patrice Anderson of Gilroy, California, Kris Chase of Campbell, California, Tina Sera of Capitola, California and Marnie Ferreira of Discovery Bay, California.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd E. & May E. Rains and a brother, Darrell Rains.



She will be very missed by her family and friends.
