Marie "Rita" Eaton

May 10, 1925 — January 16, 2013

Marie 'Rita' Eaton passed away on Wednesday, January 16th, at her home in Cave Junction, Oregon.

Rita was born May 10, 1925 in New Hampshire and moved with her family to Revere, Massachusetts as a young child. Growing up through the great depression she and her older brother Donald had paper routes, picked berries for sale, and even collected coal along the railroad tracks to keep the family warm. She also went on to meet her best friend and her future husband of over 40 years, Arthur Wallace 'Lefty' Eaton. They both served in WWII and later married and moved to Phoenix Arizona in 1951 where they raised their family for 20 years before moving to Cave Junction in 1971.

She touched countless peoples' lives in so many ways, one of which was being a librarian for 18 years at the local library in Cave Junction where she developed many long-lasting connections and friendships. Since her retirement from the library, and up to her last days, she volunteered 2 days a week at the local Senior Center. To describe her amazing personality and beautiful, wonderful caring self on a page is impossible. She will be missed more than words can say by her family and friends. She was an angel on this earth and will always be an angel in our hearts.

Rita Eaton is survived by her 6 children, Robert Eaton, Suzanne Zook, Michael Eaton, Richard Eaton, Patrick Eaton, James Eaton, and her 8 Grandkids, Travis Zook, Jessie Eaton, Cody Zook, Morgen Zook Ostrander, Martille Eaton Elias, Kelsey Krinsky, Alex Eaton, and Marie Eaton. Rita also has 10 beautiful great grandchildren. She was prededed in death by her husband in 1989.
