Marianne Jean Vanhoy

Former Grants Pass resident, Marianne Jean VanHoy, age 72, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in Rogue River.

Family services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Marianne was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on October 16, 1940 to James and Hazel Inglis. She was raised in Toms River, New Jersey with her older brother Jim. She met her first husband John Vandebrooke at Maryville College in Tennessee and married in August 1960. They had four children together: Jessica, Kirk, Chris and Jennifer. The family resided in New York, California and Oregon; with roots established in Grants Pass. Marianne later married Robert VanHoy on October 16, 1981. She worked 23 years for the Josephine County Sheriff’s Department from 1975 to 1998. During that time she completed her Associates degree in Criminology from Rogue Community College. Marianne and her husband Robert worked at several RV Parks post-retirement; including Seaside, Lake of the Woods and Medford Oaks. She was known to her children as a woman who could do anything she set her mind to and a hero to her grandchildren. Her life was one of devotion to her family, friends and pets. In 2003 she moved from Grants Pass to Eagle Point.

Marianne was a member of the Order of the Moose and the American Legion.

Her hobbies included sewing, golfing, hunting, reading, bowling, crocheting and archery.

Survivors include her spouse, Robert A. VanHoy of Eagle Point; children, Jessica Tichy, Kirk Vandebrooke, Christopher Vandebrooke, Jennifer Rademacher and Tammy McGriff; a brother James Inglis, Jr and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Hazel Inglis and a stepson, Bryan VanHoy.
