Margaret "Peg" Foote

February 25, 1924 — July 18, 2016

Margaret 'Peg' Foote passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Brookdale Grants Pass Pointe Memory Care facility.

Peg was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 25, 1924 to John and Gertrude Roach, where she was raised in the suburb of El Sereno, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1941. She attended the Metropolitan School of Business in Los Angeles and after completion in 1942 she went to work at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, in the Commercial Division.

In 1944 she joined the U.S. Navy as a WAVE and worked as a Yeoman 3/c in the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, D.C. Upon discharge in 1946 she returned to the LADWP, and worked in the Personnel Division there.

A short time later she met her future husband, Harry, who was also employed at the LADWP. On April 23, 1949 they were married in Glendale, CA. They had two children, daughter Linda and son Steve. Peg was a homemaker, raising the children with her husband at their home in Eagle Rock in the NE Los Angeles area. When the children were teens, she went back to secretarial work at a banking institution.

Peg enjoyed camping, traveling and boating; she and Harry are past members of the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club in San Pedro, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Roach and sister Joyce Miller. She is survived by her husband Harry, daughter Linda Colton (Richard), son Steve, grandson Daniel Nasitka (Chelsea), granddaughter Alisa Foote, sister Kathleen Roach and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 21st at 11 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Grants Pass, with burial following at 2 pm at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point. A Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later date. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at the Brookdale facility, and especially to Lovejoy Hospice, whose nurses and staff provided tender and loving care to her for the past few weeks.
