Margaret M. Marx

June 18, 1956 — March 15, 2012

Margaret M. Marx, age 55, of Cave Junction, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at her home.

A memorial service will be held at her home on Saturday, April 7, 2012. For more information you may contact the family. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born on June 18, 1956 in Bronx, New York. She later moved to Orange County, California with her family. She graduated from Westminster High in 1974.

She moved to Humboldt County in the early 80’s. She raised her sons in the peaceful serenity of Igo and Shively for several years before moving back to Westminster, California. She had worked as a Teacher’s Assistant and tried a hand at her own business, Maggies Organic Gardening for a short while before moving to Oregon.

She and her sons moved to the valley in 1991. She was a single mother who raised her three sons with love and passion. Her life abruptly changed in 1995 when her eldest son Jerome Marx died prematurely from an accidental shooting when he was just 19. Her and her two sons maintained a tightly woven relationship together in the valley until her death.

She loved gardening, baking, mushroom picking, art, wild flowers, nature, gold panning, the great outdoors, her sons and all of the valuable friends she met along the way.

She lived with her dear friend and companion Steve Nolan from 1999 until her death.

Survivors include her two sons, Charles A. Parrish and Glen M. Parrish both of Cave Junction; two brothers, John Marx of Garden Grove, California and Karl Marx of Santa Ana, California; a sister Ann Marie Marx of Santa Ynes, California.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jerome Dennis Marx in 1995.
