Madgeline Lillian Brown, age 84, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2011 at College Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Lloyd officiating. Private interment was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Madge was born December 8, 1926 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois to Andrew Loy & Margerite (Hultgren) Loy. On May 3, 1947 in Oregon, Illinois she married Gerald R. Brown and that same year they moved from Rockford to the San Diego area in California. In 1954 they moved to Murphy, Oregon onto 120 unimproved acres where they brought in electricity over one mile. They developed a 10,000+ chicken ranch that they delivered eggs both wholesale and retail for a number of years until a freeze wiped out the chickens. Madge then worked at Laurentide Finance for 16 years until a brief retirement. Madge joined Jerry in their long haul trucking business until 1999 when she started working with her daughter, Pam, until her retirement shortly after her 84th birthday from 221 Property Services.
She was a member of Murphy Chapel under Pastor Harold Anderson and most recently College Heights Baptist Church under Pastor Ron Lloyd.
Madge was the #1 fan of all her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing bunco with the girls.
In addition to her husband, Gerald R. Brown of Grants Pass, Oregon; survivors include five children, Kathleen Martin and husband Larre of Corvallis, Oregon, Dennis Brown and wife Lisa of Lakeview, Oregon, Susan Houck of Trail, Oregon, Debra Sward and fianc Clint of Grants Pass, Oregon and Pamela Hurlburt and husband Paul of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, Ronald; eight grandchildren, Mike McCornack, Ryan Wilson, Mitchell Brown, Tiffany Jubera, Krystal Cornell, Erin Rubin, Jake Sward, and Lindsey Lloyd; and six great-grandchildren, Damion McCornack, Mikyla Freeman, Tevon McCornack, Haley Mae McCornack, Jadeyn Cornell, and Colton Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jesse Brown in 2002 and two brothers, Andrew and Duane.
