Madeline Weir Forbuss

Madeline Weir Forbuss, 91, passed away peacefully February 22, 2018 at Brookdale Grants Pass Senior Living. Madeline was born on December 7, 1926 in Long Beach, California to Opal and Forrest (Ted) Weir. On her 15th Birthday, the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred, and she worked at Douglas Aircraft Consolidated Ship yard. She became part of the war effort by working in giant hangers riveting A-26 airplane parts.

She moved to Grants Pass, Oregon and married Donald P. Forbuss on December 22, 1951. Madeline led a remarkable life and especially enjoyed her family, friends, and community activities. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Madeline worked at Montgomery Ward Retail, U.S. Bank, and Southern Oregon Hospital in Grants Pass.

She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed arts and crafts, home decorating, and collecting antiques. She loved to travel and visit her family in Virginia, California, and Nevada. She loved visiting Disney World with her brother, Charles, and his family. She was active in the Grants Pass Community and served as a founding member to the Grants Pass ARC, an association for people with disabilities. She was extremely devoted to the special needs of her daughter, Nancy Lee.

She is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Naomi, of Grants Pass, Oregon, four grandchildren, David K., Mary B., Ryan J., and Aaron W., and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Zachary, and Olivia.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald P. Forbuss, a daughter, Nancy Lee Brown, two brothers, Richard and Charles Weir, and a sister, Barbara Judson.

A committal service will be on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Bishop Jonathan Jensen officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors will oversee arrangements.
