Mabel Ellen Dech Sandys

Mabel Ellen Dech Sandys, age 88, of Grants Pass, Oregon, joined her family already in heaven November 18, 2009.

Born in Lawrence, Kansas to the Reverend George and May Dech. She called herself the middle Dech of their family of 5 children, John, Andrew, Ruth, and Esther, all of whom preceded her in death.

This year on November 13, Mabel and her sweetheart celebrated 66 years of marriage. In Temple City and Arcadia, California they raised 3 children, Rick, Barbara and Donna. Her life long dream was to be a Librarian. She accomplished nearly 2 full master degrees allowing her to serve as El Monte, California School Librarian.

Her favorite past times included talking with her family, taking pictures of her family, crocheting, and crossword puzzles which she continued to do until she broke her arm this month.

Five people called her grandma Sandra, Sally, Julie, Matt, and Mark. Now, of course their spouses do also. As of last count the great-grandchildren numbered 10 . Skyler, Reed, Selah, Emma, Andrew, Thomas, Rebecca, Grace, Chase, Hunter, and one on the way.

After being born into the home of a pastor with the Church of the Nazarene, Mabel continued faithfully attending her church as her health permitted. In 1992 Mabel and Don moved to Grants Pass, Oregon near children and old friends from Temple City, California. Don continues in the home they made together.

Galatians 5:9-10 And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
