Lucille Oatney Snow

June 16, 1920 — May 18, 2017

Lucille (Magerle) Oatney Snow, age 96, of Rogue River, passed away died May 18, 2017 at her home.

Lucille was born June 16, 1920 in Rogue River to pioneer family Carl & Blanche (Seaman) Magerle. She lived in Rogue River all her life. On December 19, 1942, in Jackson County she married Virgil Edmond Perry Oatney who died August 1999. On November 27, 1999, she married her high school sweetheart, Howard Arthur Snow who died June 2014. She worked for the post office for 18 years and was recognized with an “excellence service record” for outstanding service.

Lucille attended Wimer Community Church for many years where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She later attended Rogue Valley Community Church. Lucille volunteered with Child Evangelism Fellowship, taught Bible classes, and taught Vacation Bible School. She loved her church family and had wonderful friends there.

Lucille loved handcrafts including sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and quilting for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, vegetable and flower gardening, and drying/selling the walnuts from her tree. She was a great cook and everyone knew her for her oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. She loved family reunions at Palmerton Park and large Thanksgiving dinners at Rogue River Community Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Connell of Myrtle Creek and Sandi Dunivin of Springfield; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Virginia Marquez and step-granddaughter, LaLaurie Abney. She was the last remaining sibling of her generation.

A celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Rogue Valley Community Church with Pastor Steve West officiating.
