Lowell G. Bearg, age 89, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Spring Pointe.

A memorial service with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor David Johnsen officiating. Private interment was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Lowell was born December 18, 1923 in Robinson, Kansas to Harry & Charlotte Bearg. In 1943 he joined the United States Navy as a Naval Cadet and was part of the Underwater Demolition (now known as the first Navy Seals) until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was very proud of his service to his country. He attended Lower Columbia Junior College, graduated from Whitman College in 1947, and attended law school. He received his MBA in 1973 and his CPA in 1978. On September 10, 1988 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord, California he married Sylvia J. Crow-Smith. He worked as a CPA for Kaiser and later owned his own tax office retiring in 2002. After his retirement he moved from Pacheco, California to Grants Pass where he loved living in the woods with his wife, Sylvia.

Lowell was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He loved his Lord and his church.

He volunteered his time as an AARP tax preparer.

His hobbies included playing bridge, stamp and coin collecting, and crossword puzzles. He loved music and played piano and sang in the church choir.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Sandra Andrew and Joyce Eldridge; a sister, Grace Charlotte; and many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; and step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Sylvia J. Bearg on October 14, 2012; his parents; and several siblings.
