Lorraine Marie Thornton, age 93, of Rogue River, Oregon died on Tuesday,
January 8, 2019 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass, OR. She was
born to Godfrey and Marie Valley on August 20, 1925 in Menominee, Michigan.
Lorraine married her high school sweetheart, William P. Thornton on September
2, 1943. They raised a family in Menominee where she was a full-time Mom, a
talented seamstress an avid reader and an artist. They were very active in the
First United Methodist Church.
They moved to Ontario, CA in 1978. Upon the death of her husband in 1987 she
moved to Boulder, CO. Then in 1992 she moved to Rogue River, OR where she
attended Hope Presbyterian Church and continued her love of art and reading.
She is survived by her sister, Grace Chatham, of Show Low, AZ and her children,
Colleen Thornton of Longmont CO, her son, Dan and daughter-in-law Diane
both of Ontario, CA and daughter-in-law, Karen Thornton of Rogue River, OR.
She was preceded in death by her son, William H. Thornton.
Lorraine will be buried with her husband, William in Riverside National Cemetery
in Riverside, CA.
