Lorraine F. Schoenfeld

January 2, 1930 — April 13, 2018

The Schoenfeld family of Grants Pass, Oregon experienced a great loss on Friday, April 13th with the passing of Lorraine Schoenfeld at 88 years young. Lorraine is survived by her husband of 57 years, Allan R. Schoenfeld, her son Robert (Jeaninne) Schoenfeld of Salem, and her daughter Anna (Jeff) Johnston of Massachusetts.

A private memorial will be held on Saturday, April 21st. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to agefriendlyinnovators.org.

Lorraine was born in Canada to Duncan and Alice McDonald on January 2, 1930. When she and her two sisters, Donna and Marguerite, were very young, the family moved to Los Angeles. After graduation from Bell High School, Lorraine worked as a bank teller before landing a job at Certified Grocers. There she would catch the eye of her future husband Allan, a computer engineer also working at the company. After the births of Robert and Anna, the family moved to Southern Oregon to seek a quieter and simpler life.

Lorraine’s greatest passion was looking after her family. She was a devoted mother, never missing a game, recital or event on the family calendar. Her most treasured memories came from annual summer vacations to visit family or seek a new adventure. She worked as a substitute teacher and library aide for the Josephine County School District, a position she would hold until retirement. She also enjoyed reading, games, crossword puzzles, and a piping hot cup o’ tea. Recently, one of her favorite pastimes was cuddling with her cats Katie and Sunny.

Lorraine held great faith in God and was a member of the Newman United Methodist Church in Grants Pass for over 40 years. She was a woman of grace, kindness, generosity and selflessness. For those of us that knew Sweet Lorraine, we can all testify that she embraced her friends as an extension of her loving family. At Lorraine’s table, there was always an extra chair, always an extra plate, always room for one more. We will never forget Lorraine’s love, compassion, and sense of humor.

We will miss you forever.
