Lois "Fern" Holbrook

Lois “Fern” Holbrook, age 86, of Glendale, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at her home.

Please come and join the Celebration of Life with family and friends at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 5847 Azalea Glen Road in Glendale. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Lois was born August 18, 1924 in Ontario, Oregon to Thomas Boyd & Laura Maud Maupin. In 1926 the family moved to Merlin, Oregon. On December 24, 1946 she married Merrill Floyd Holbrook Sr. The couple resided in Merlin where they raised their family. While living in Merlin, she worked at Spears Lumber Mill. In 1981 they moved to their new home in Glendale.

Her hobbies included bowling where she was a member of Scotties Texaco Bowling League, she loved working in her flower garden, was a rock hound and she enjoyed square dancing with the Cross Trailers. She also liked sewing, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, textile painting, reading and cake decorating.

Survivors include her children, Judy Rae Floyd of Grants Pass, Lois Dawn McGee of Arizona, Laura Ardell Burgdorf of Glendale, Velma LaVern Patterson of Glendale and Sarah Jane Weber of Wolf Creek; a brother, Leon Boyd Maupin of Merlin; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill Floyd Sr., February 26, 1917 – August 26, 1997; two sons, George Ivan Probst, March 19, 1943-March 12, 1976 and Merrill “Butch” Floyd Holbrook, Jr., December 21, 1954-May 24, 2010; granddaughter, Mechelle Floyd Jackson, daughter of Bob & Judy Floyd, May 26, 1973-October 25, 2009.
