Lois Elaine Schoenberger

April 25, 1922 — October 15, 2010

Lois Elaine Schoenberger, age 88, of Grants Pass, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital. She was surrounded by family at her bedside when God invited her home and she is now finally at peace with the love of her life, Guy Schoenberger.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Spring Village. A celebration of life and refreshments will follow. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Lois was born April 25, 1922 in Montesano, Washington to David and Grace Oleson. In 1939 she graduated from Montesano High School with honors where she was active in the drama club and sang with a trio on the radio for one year. She also belonged to the International Order of Rainbow for Girls for 3 years and was the Worthy Advisor of Assembly #33 in Montesano. After high school, Lois worked at Shaffer Brothers as a secretary. On November 22, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lois married Frank Guy Schoenberger from Aberdeen, Washington, while he was on leave from the Navy. For 2 years, while Guy was out to sea, Lois worked in Montesano. After World War II, they lived for a short while in Billings, Montana where their daughter Carol was born and then moved to Seattle, Washington where their daughter Sandy was born. They then moved to Richmond, California and lived there for 28 years where Lois worked as a legal secretary. In 1981 they retired to Grants Pass, Oregon. Guy preceded her in death in 2004 after celebrating 61 years of marriage.

Lois loved cooking and baking and her hobbies included reading, crocheting, and needlepoint. She was a kind and sweet lady and was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Lois is survived by a sister, Pat Reister of Olympia, Washington; two daughters, Carol Northey of Bakersfield, California and Sandra Jones of Grants Pass, Oregon; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
