Linda Laverne Manteufel

Linda L. (Sinkey) Manteufel, 59, of Kerby, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at her home after an eight month battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Laurel Chapel.
Interment will follow at Laurel Cemetery. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born on January 30, 1948 in Glendale, California to P. E.& LaVerne Frances (Schmoll) Sinkey. In 1962, when she was 14 years old her family moved from California to Kerby, Oregon. In 1966 she graduated from Illinois Valley High School. She went on to Southern Oregon College and graduated with a BA in Physical Education and Health in 1970 and later received her MBA from Southern Oregon College in 1978. She enlisted in the U S Army and served for two years. On December 25, 1977 in East Peoria, Illinois, she married Charles W. Manteufel, who survives.

From 1978 to 1984 she worked in the Employment Office. She then worked as an AFS Case Manager for the Cave Junction Branch from 1984 until 2000. In 2001 she received a teaching certificate for various school in Josephine County from K through 12.

She was a member and president of the Illinois Valley Kiwanis Club. She was also a member of the American Legion and the Cave Junction Branch of the Josephine County Christmas Basket Program.

She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, gardening, traveling, garage selling and shopping. She also enjoyed fishing for Salmon, Halibut and bottom fish and giving to charities.

In addition to her husband, Charles Manteufel of Kerby; survivors include her daughter, Lee-Anne Manzone of Cave Junction; her son, Charles Manteufel of Marietta, Oklahoma; her parents, LaVerne & P.E. Sinkey of Cave Junction; her brother, Bill Sinkey of Roseburg; four grandchildren; two nieces; two nephews; and two great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Sinkey in 1995.
