Lillian "Lil" Esther Broeffle

September 17, 1935 — November 17, 2009

Lillian “Lil” Esther Broeffle passed away on November 17, 2009, peacefully in her sleep at home. Lil was born in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, on September 17, 1935.

In 1953 she came to Cave Junction, Oregon, to visit with her sister Olga and brother-law Nick Nichols. There she met James “Jim” Broeffle and they married July 5, 1954.

In 1962 the family moved to Grants Pass, Oregon where they raised their 3 children.

In 1970 she obtained her US Citizenship, she was so proud of her accomplishment; and her family was proud of her.

Lil sold Avon for 20 years, raised and showed Silver Persian Cats for 10 years, and worked in private homes doing home health care.

In the 1980’s Lil and her husband took in and cared for many foster children through SOASTC and Children’s Services Division.

Her hobbies included Tatting, raising Koi fish; growing unique orchids and various flowers in her greenhouse. In her recent years she crocheted lap blankets for the elderly at Royal Gardens and Oak Lane Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents Chris and Mary Appel, her sister and brother-in-law Olga & Nick Nichols, three brothers Edward, Harold and Leonard Appel, her mother-in-law Evangeline Broeffle, brother and sister in-law Bill and Roni Broeffle.

Survivors includes her husband Jim Broeffle, two sons Ken (Deb) and Doug (Evelyn) Broeffle, a daughter Renae (Brian) Munson; a grandson Michael (Lynette) Munson, two granddaughters Alicia (Travis) Davis, Paula (Trevor) Munson; a great-grand daughter Layla, a great-grand son Ivan; in Canada a sister Lydia and brother-in-law Sandy Lutic, a brother Albert Appel, a sister-in-law Elsie Appel and many cousins, nieces and nephews; in the USA six nieces Bonnie, Loree, Stacy, Lisa, Carol, Sonja, one nephew Scott.

Please join us for a celebration of Lil’s life on Saturday, December 12, 2009, 1-3 p.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Fellowship Hall, 856 NW 5th St. Grants Pass, OR.
