Levina Mae Davidson

December 22, 1927 — September 2, 2019

Remembering a Loving Mother and Grandmother

Levina Mae Davidson went to heaven on September 2, 2019.

Levina was born on December 22, 1927, to Francis and Leta Hunt. She had one sister, who passed away at the tender age of four. Levina learned to work hard as a farmer’s daughter in North Dakota. Her family moved to Oregon in 1934.

She married Clarence Davidson on February 10, 1944. Levina and Clarence started their marriage by managing a skating rink and a small restaurant in Newberg, Oregon. She was a good cook. Later, they decided to buy a recreational building from the Army base at Camp White and transported the large building piece by piece on the old Highway 99. They reassembled the building in Grants Pass to open up a skating rink in 1947. It was first named the Rollerdrome, then later changed to Grants Pass Skate Center. After the passing of her husband, Levina operated the skating rink with her grandson, Aaron Sells for a number of years and finally decided to retire and sold the business to him on November 24, 2005.

Her husband was a river guide during the day, and Levina made the lunches, shuttled his fishing guests, while managing the day to day skating activities. She did everything with her husband from pulling up crab nets to digging up clams. Deer hunting was one of her favorite sports. Besides fishing on the Rogue River, she enjoyed fishing and camping at various lakes.

Levina was a generous caregiver with a golden heart thoughout her busy adult life. She had a cheery smile, a willing attitude and always provided an unfailing helping hand.

She raised three children Audrey Sells/Ehr and Linda Davidson both of Grants Pass and Richard Davidson of Eugene, Oregon; grandchildren Laurinda Sells, Larry Sells, Aaron Sells, Christopher Davidson; step-granddaughters Jennifer Davidson/Stahle and Tracy Ehr; great-grandchildren Madison Sells, Rashaun Sells, Kody Sells, McKayla Sells, Michael Sells, Nathaniel Sells, Jordan Sells, and McKenzie Sells; and great-great-grandchild Saylor Sells. She took great joy in holding and babysitting her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Levina had patience, a strong will and much courage during her many illnesses. Though her memories sometimes became lost, she still possessed the strength and fortitude to carry on.
To the very end, she made the most of her days.

No public services are planned. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.

A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands ready to rest.
Our hearts are heavy at your passing, as we watch you go! Rest now in your heavenly rest.
