Leslie George Taylor

Leslie George Taylor, 95, of Grants Pass died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7th, at 1pm, at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Rather than other symbols of respect, Les would have been pleased to have donations made to help our soldiers, present and past, at Patriot Outreach C/O PO Box 601 Selma, OR 97538.

Born, October 8, 1915, in London, England, Les immigrated with his family, at age 4, to America through Ellis Island, settling in Buffalo, NY. Les excelled in academics, and being a natural athlete, excelled in sports. He met Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, and later went on to play for the Yankees himself in their Minor League.

Les was an entrepreneur with a lifetime of success. “In business I always wanted to be of help to people and to bring them along.” His career included: Houdaille Industries, Buffalo; Kelsey-Hayes, Detroit; Glen Alden Company, NY; Superior Manufacturing Company, Dearborn; Denver Chicago Trucking Company, Denver; DC International, Amsterdam; Colorado Metal Products, Denver; Global Health, Boulder; Merendon Mining International, Calgary; Taylor Mining Enterprises, Denver; Taylor Energy, Denver; and Leslie G. Taylor & Company, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Most recently Les’ career turned to his love of mining development…never retiring. Les was a Scottish Rite 32 degree Shriner.

In addition to Wendy, his wife of 31 years; survivors include a son, Leslie G.A. “Tony” Taylor II, of Beaverton, OR; a daughter, Sandra Mira, of Livonia, MI; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Les' daughter, Linda Susan Marshall, died in 2002; his brother, Raymond Charles Taylor, died in 1982, and his son Anthony Leslie Taylor died shortly after birth in 1969.
