Lenin "Len" Ramp

August 29, 1926 — February 16, 2012

Lenin “Len” Ramp, age 85, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Reinhart Volunteer Park (All Sports Park). Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Len was born August 29, 1926 in Roseburg, Oregon to Floyd & Vera Ramp. He graduated from Roseburg High School, Class of 1944. On September 4, 1950 in Portland, Oregon he married the former Patricia Gately. In 1951 he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and in 1952 he received his Masters Degree in Geology, both from the University of Oregon. In 1953 they moved from Portland to Grants Pass. For 37 years he worked for the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries, retiring in 1989.

Len was a member of the National Ski Patrol and Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol for 30 years; Crater Lake Nordic Patrol for many years; American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers; lifetime member of Boy Scouts of America where he served as a Scoutmaster; and was a Josephine County Parks board member for 15 years.

His hobbies included skiing, mountain climbing, rafting, running, golfing and bike riding. He also enjoyed helping his children with projects along with working on other projects. Every year for 34 years, Len participated in the Medford Pear Blossom Run since it was founded in 1977.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Ramp of Grants Pass; two daughters, Sherri Cunningham of Clearwater, Florida and Becky Ramp of Los Angeles, California; two sons, Mark Ramp of Roseburg, Oregon and Greg Ramp of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Nadya Rogers of Bandon, Oregon; a brother Marty Ramp of Medford, Oregon; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
