Leland Mctimmonds

Leland “Berle” McTimmonds, age 89, of Grants Pass, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at Redwood Terrace.

A visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time, Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Fairview Mennonite Church in Albany.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Fairview Mennonite Church, (35100 Goltra Road in Albany) with Pastor Lowell Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Mennonite Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to the Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon, 3975 Merchantile Drive, Suite 154, Lake Oswego OR 97035.

Berle was born January 18, 1919 in Hubbard, Oregon to Elmer & Clysta McTimmonds. As a child, he moved with his family to Portland. On February 23, 1941 in Albany he married Florence Roth. In 1955 he moved to Grants Pass and together with Max Yoder began M&Y Lumber in Selma, which he owned and operated until 2004. In 1999 he moved to Albany where he lived for two years until the death of his wife, at which time he returned to Grants Pass.

In 1955 Berle furnished the lumber and his father built the Grants Pass Mennonite Church of which he was a charter member and continued his membership his entire life. He served at the church as a Sunday school teacher and sang in a men’s quartet.

His hobbies included fishing at Rainie Falls on the Rogue River and reading.

Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Lovejoy of Cave Junction; a son, Terry McTimmonds of Snohomish, Washington; two sisters, Iris Berkey of Salem and Sara Chupp of McMinnville; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
