Lawrence Dale Moody, age 73, of Cave Junction, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his home.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence was born in Dearborn, Michigan on May 2, 1939 to Wells and Thelma Moody. He served in the United States Navy for four years and was honorably discharged in July 1960. For 39 years he worked for South Coast Lumber in Brookings, Oregon. He ran heavy equipment and drove eighteen wheelers until 1999. In May 1999 he moved to Alaska where he did a lot of fishing, what fun. In August 2006 he returned to Cave Junction.

He grew up fishing and swimming on the Chetco River and at age 15 he met his wife there. He also enjoyed hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Margie whom he married on June 27, 1982 in Harbor, Oregon; his daughter, Laura and her husband, David Lee of Aurora, Colorado; three stepchildren, Lloyd Matlock and wife Linda of Brookings, Oregon, Vanette Musser and husband William of Naukati, Alaska and Tara Blair and husband Max of Thorne Bay, Alaska; grandchildren, Daniel, David, Jenna, Matthew, Angel, Duke, Joshua, Matthew, Sonny, Jason, Korrisa and Nathan; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Albin Moody and wife Fran of Talent, Oregon, Arthur Moody and wife Nancy of Cave Junction, Oregon and Roger Moody and wife Marty of Harbor, Oregon and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was a brother, William Moody.
