Larry Henderson

July 13, 1938 — February 8, 2017

Larry Henderson, age 78, of Grants Pass, Oregon, passed away on February 8, 2017, from complications of a stroke at Regency Care of Rogue Valley.
Larry Walter Henderson was born on July 13, 1938, in Parker, Arizona, to Walter and Myrtle Henderson. In 1945, he moved with his family to Grants Pass, where he attended public school and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1957.
He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1957 to 1962. He then worked for Standard Oil company, (now Chevron Oil), from 1959 until 1966.
Larry married Patricia Sue Olson, a resident of Grants Pass, in 1961. In 1966 they purchased and opened Henderson Chevron at the corner of 6th and “A” Streets in 1966. A friendly and rare “full service,” station still open and operating today and making travel friends far and wide. His loyal, local customers, and those from out of state, would always make that “pit stop” at Grants Pass, to Henderson’s Chevron station to say “Hi” to Larry and share their latest travel adventures with him.
Larry’s hobbies included fishing, motorcycle hill climbing and trail riding, wood working and enjoying many lazy days houseboating on Lake Shasta. He especially loved his family and particularly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sport activities.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Pat Henderson; son, Jim Henderson and wife, Tanya; daughter, Jona Fikso and husband, Mike; four grandchildren, Haley Kasler and husband, Jordan, Kara Fikso, Emily Henderson, and Cody Henderson.
Remembrances may be made to the Grants Pass High School Athletic Booster Club or Hidden Valley High School (girls sports program).
In keeping with Larry’s wishes, no memorial service will be held.
