L. Joyce Stafford

L. Joyce Stafford, age 73, of Cave Junction, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A viewing will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2011 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2011 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Joyce was born July 19, 1938 in Mason City, Washington to Ralph & Nell Jones. In 1957 she graduated from high school in El Segundo, California. After high school she worked as a clerk at Larson’s Department Store in Lawndale, California. On May 10, 1958 in Los Angeles County Joyce married C. C. “Don” Stafford. After the birth of her two sons, she began working as a Lead Lady Assembler at Rhombus Industries until her retirement after 25 years in 1991. At that time, she moved from Carson, California to Cave Junction, Oregon.

Her memberships included the American Legion Auxiliary where she was past vice-president; 40/8 Cabane’s Auxiliary (a veteran’s club) where she was past president; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary; and T.O.P.S., Cave Junction Chapter. She was also active in Boys Scouts with her sons and grandsons and served as a committee member. She enjoyed watching her son and two grandsons earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

Survivors include her husband, C.C. “Don” Stafford of Cave Junction, Oregon; two sons, Donald Stafford of Grants Pass, Oregon and Bob Stafford of Cave Junction, Oregon; a daughter, Terri Stafford of Cave Junction, Oregon; a brother, Jack Jones of Friday Harbor, Washington; four grandchildren, Donald Stafford Jr., Pamela Stafford, Joni Olave and Charles Stafford; and two great-grandchildren, Tabitha Olave and Carmen Olave.

She was preceded in death by a half-brother, Ralph Jones in 2010.
