Kenneth W. Butler

Kenneth W. Butler, age 77, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Jerome Prairie Bible Church with Pastor James Downing officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Ken was born August 6, 1933 in Coquille, Oregon to Bertha & Albert Butler. His family moved from Brewster Valley to Grants Pass when he was five years old. He attended Grants Pass High School before he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Okinawa from 1951 to 1953. For 25 years he drove log truck and did long haul and short haul trucking. He then worked for Southern Oregon Log Scaling Bureau as a log scaler for 19 years. On August 6, 1994 in Salem, Oregon he married his wife, Judy.

Ken was a member of Jerome Prairie Bible Church; Grants Pass Elks; and Azalea Grange #786.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and truck pulls for many years. He was also a crew member of “The Phoenix – Land Speed Record Holder, Unlimited Diesel Category.”

In addition to his wife, Judy Butler of Grants Pass, Oregon; six daughters, Alexandria Fankhanel of Maui, Hawaii, Rosie Sagers of Independence, Oregon, Linda Ziebell of Salem, Oregon, Sheila Thomas of Frisco, Texas, Randa Bailey of Plano, Texas, and Darnella Barrow of Plano, Texas; a sister, Delores Caldwell of Sunny Valley, Oregon; a brother, Wallace Butler of Coquille, Oregon; ten grandchildren, Jeff, Skylar, Derion, Denic, Gage, Geoff, Aron, Ryan, Nicholas, and Amanda; and a great-grandson, Isaiah.
