Kenneth Edgar Garcelon

Kenneth Edgar Garcelon, age 86, of Fortuna, California died Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Redwood Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2007 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in the vestibule.

A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2007 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cave Junction with Father Harry Holwell officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Cemetery. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth was born December 23, 1920 in Snohomish, Washington to Paul & Marie Garcelon. In 1941 he graduated from Fortuna High School in Fortuna, California. On April 18, 1944 in San Francisco, California he married Peggy Kielty, who preceded him in death. He attended flight school at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. He worked as a maintenance engineer for many years. He lived in Napa, California and in 1986 moved to Cave Junction. In October 2006 he returned to Fortuna, California where he grew up.

He was a woodworker and enjoyed making and giving toys to children at Christmas time.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Garcelon of Arlee, Montana and David Garcelon of McKinleyville, California; two daughters, Gayle Peterson of Redway, California and Beverly Garcelon of Big Fork, Montana; a sister, Iris Hippert of Grass Valley, California; a brother, Eldon Garcelon of Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren, Morgan Butterfield, Quinn Butterfield, and Jesse Peterson.
