Kathryn "Kay" Wells

Kathryn “Kay” Wells, age 94, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at her home at Redwood Terrace.

A viewing will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A memorial service will begin at1 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Kay was born a twin on April 9, 1915 at Gates, Linn County, Oregon to Kenneth McClary & Bess M. Collins McClary. In 1939 she attended Star School at Universal Studios in Studio City, California. In 1940 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood, California she married Bernerd F. Wells. She was a graduate of Newspaper Institute of America, Reno Business College, and California School of Commerce. In 1950 she moved from Alaska to Grants Pass.

Kay was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and past member of the Democratic Party of Josephine County where she served as precinct committeewoman in 1968, 1970, and 1972.

She is survived by a nephew, Michael French of Beatty, Nevada and a niece, Shannon Sweeny of Denio, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernerd F. Wells on September 22, 1982; her parents; a brother, Kenneth McClary; and three sisters, Shirley Kimberling, Judith Elkins, and Norma Allen.
