Karen Burket, age 68, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at her home.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Calvary Crossroads Church with Pastor Bob Bonner officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Josephine County Chapter, 31 W 6th Street, Medford, Oregon 97501.

Karen was born May 1, 1944 in Astoria, Oregon to Robert & Elaine Reynolds. She attended grade school in Silverton, Oregon, junior high school in Corvallis, Oregon, before graduating from high school in San Jose, California. She then continued her education at San Jose State University and Stanislaus State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree. On June 13, 1964 in San Jose she married Richard B. Burket. She moved often with her husband’s job until the children started school. She was privileged to be a stay-at-home mom until the children started junior high and high school. In 1980 she moved from Willows, California to Grants Pass. For ten years she taught at Josephine County Christian School and for seven years she worked at Frost Office Supply, retiring in 2007.

Karen was a member of Calvary Crossroads Church and Celebrate Recovery.

Her volunteer work included teaching Sunday school, co-leader of 12 step groups, prayer ministry for Celebrate Recovery and teaching vacation Bible school.

Her hobbies included scrapbooking; gardening, especially flowers; computer creations such as cards; reading; and going to the coast. She especially loved grandparenting.

Survivors include her spouse Richard B. Burket of Grants Pass; two sons, Robert A. Burket of Portland, Oregon and Richard E. Burket of Palermo, Italy; a brother, Fred Allumbaugh of Corydon, Indiana; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert A. Reynolds; her mother, Elaine Stewart; and two sisters, Katherine Flink and Patty Allumbaugh.
