Joyce Fidelia Chamberlin

Joyce Fidelia Chamberlin, age 79, of Cave Junction, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at her home.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Immanual United Methodist Church in Cave Junction. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Joyce was born February 20, 1932 in Portland, Oregon to Jonathan & Charity Steele. She had three brothers and four sisters. She lived in Metzger, Oregon for seven years and then moved to Garden Home, Oregon for 13 years. In 1950 she graduated from Beaverton High School. She then worked as a page at the Multnomah County Library in Portland in the reference department for a year. On June 29, 1952 she married David Chamberlin. For four years they lived in Sisters, Oregon before moving to Cave Junction in 1956. Together they had four children, Sherrie, Duane, Cindy, and Kathleen. From 1974 to 1976 Joyce attended Rogue Community College focusing on medical secretary skills and then worked at a home health agency in Grants Pass for a year.

Joyce was a member of the Methodist Church; Rebekah Lodge; IV Senior Center; and was a former member of the Good Sam Club. She volunteered by delivering meals for Meals on Wheels for many years and with Red Cross blood drives.

Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, cryptoquotes, watching television, and feeding wild birds.

Survivors include four children, Sherrie E. Moine of Keizer, Oregon, Duane Chamberlin of Wasilla, Alaska, Cindy LaBree of White City, Oregon, Kathleen Bradbury of Hesperia, California; three sisters, June Christiansen of Bandon, Oregon, Wanda Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Crystal Buettner of Mesa, Arizona; a brother, Jack Steele of Beaverton, Oregon; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; and a sister.
