John W. Lewis

John W. Lewis, age 72, of Sunny Valley, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

John was born July 5, 1939 in London, England to Thomas & Doris Lewis. He was a mechanical engineer in aerospace designing and building fuel systems. For 17 years he worked for Marconi. In 1982 he came to the United States to work on a satellite system at Vandenberg A.F.B. where he met and later married his wife, Patricia on July 20, 1984. John & Pat bought and managed a bowling center in Lompoc, California for several years while John managed Mission Hills Community Services District for 19 years. In 2006 they moved from Lompoc to Sunny Valley.

After moving to Sunny Valley John joined the Josephine County Sheriff’s Department volunteers, Search & Rescue; and was a bailiff for Josephine County Courts.

John enjoyed bowling and had a passion for flying.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Jane Lewis of Sunny Valley, Oregon; a daughter, Sandra Hoare of England; twin sons, Gordon Lewis and Neil Lewis both of England; a stepdaughter, Debbie Justice of Georgia; his mother, Doris May Lewis of England; a brother, David Lewis of England; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas A. Lewis.
