John Gee Jansen

John Gee Jansen, age 74, of Selma, died July 3, 2019 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

John was born August 11, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Ezra Tab Jansen & Helen Louise Jansen, the youngest of four children. He spent his early years growing up on a farm in Elk River, Minnesota. In 1954 the family moved to Willamina, Oregon and in 1956 moved to Grants Pass. He was a 1962 Grants Pass High School graduate before he joined the United States Marine Corps and served five years. From 1970 to 1982 he worked for the Grants Pass Fire Department and was captain for part of that time. On September 1, 1991 he married his wife Sandra and together they long-haul trucked until retirement. In 2004 they moved from Grants Pass to Selma.

John was a member of the Grants Pass Elks Lodge.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and camping.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Jansen; children Julie Myers (Ray), John Jansen (Mary), Veronica Thurman (Matt), Robin Keener (Victor), Randy Romero, Tim Romero (Tanya), Julie Perrault, and Charlene Jernigan (Ken); sisters, Judy Booth and JoAnne Thomas; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sister Janet Mindeman; and son David Romero.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., August 3, 2019 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with Pastor Steve Parker officiating. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
