David was born June 30, 1930 in Lead Hill, Arkansas. In 1936 he moved with his parents and six siblings to Rogue River and in 1947 graduated from Rogue River High School. During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy for four years. He married Gwen Heeter from Sweet Home, Oregon and they later divorced. For over 20 years he worked in electronics retiring from Tektronix in Beaverton in 1982. At that time he talked his best friend, partner and love of his life, Sandra Brugge to move to what he considered home – Southern Oregon where they shared 27 wonderful years together.

David served on the board of Woodville Museum until his passing and for several years served as president. He also started the Old Timers alumni picnics.

David was quite the carpenter, electrician and general good handyman. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed history, westerns, and mystery books.

Survivors include his partner, Sandra Brugge; two sons, David Edmond Dunlap and wife Vickie and John Darrel Dunlap and wife Sherree; a daughter, Kathleen Ruth Mizer and husband Dale; and six grandchildren, Chad, Chelsea, Dylan, Cole, Sawyer and Carmen.

His greatest love was family and friends.

A kind, gentle man, he will always be missed and always loved.
