Joan E. Newcomb

Joan E. Newcomb, age 76, of Selma, died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Cave Junction. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Joan was born October 26, 1933 in Tillamook, Oregon to Lawrence E. Kight & Mabel L. (Ellis) Kight. On June 22, 1952 she married Gene Newcomb. She moved from Coos Bay to Selma three years ago. She was involved for many years in making crafts and was a part of Kights Krafts in Selma.

Joan loved gardening, reading, and raising her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Gene R. Newcomb of Selma; she is survived by four children, Dana J. Taylor and Christine Newcomb both of Alsea, Oregon, Dale Baker of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Vickie Keene of Eureka, California; a stepdaughter, Myra Andrews of Auburn, Washington; two sisters, Lois McCollum and Sue McKinney both of Selma, Oregon; two brothers, David Kight of Bellingham, Washington and Jerry Kight of Winston Salem, North Carolina; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
