Jessie Irene Alexander

Jessie Irene Alexander, age 84, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Mark Dalton officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Jessie was born February 15, 1926 in Barbourville, Kentucky to Fred & Nancy Kelly. During World War II she was a “Rosie the Riveter.” On February 10, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan she married Ray Alexander Jr. Together they raised seven children. She moved from Hayward, California to Grants Pass six years ago.

Jessie especially enjoyed needlepoint.

Survivors include seven children, Ray B. Alexander III of Weaverville, California, Jean Zollinger of Boise, Idaho, Bonnie L. Belfrey of Hayward, California, Allan Alexander of Grants Pass, Oregon, Alicia S. Sutton of Hayward, California; Robin D. Alexander of Streator, Illinois, and Christopher D. Alexander of Pittsford, New York; two sisters, June and Abby; four brothers, Vaughn, Frank, Glenn, and Codell; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Alexander Jr in 1992; a grandson, Jason Zollinger in 1974; and a great-granddaughter, Christina McCall in 2006.
