Jerry Lee Williams

Jerry Lee Williams, 68, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born September 28, 1939 in Hoopeston, Illinois to Lee and Dorothy Williams. In 1957 he graduated from high school in Hoopeston. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Korea. On September 21, 1974 he married the former Betty G. Hackstack, who survives. He worked as a commercial electrician for 31 years. In 1993 he and his wife moved from California to Cave Junction where they lived for eight years before moving to Grants Pass.

He was a member of the Josephine County Sportsman Association; Union Steward for Oregon Association of Classified Employees. He was also employed as a bus driver for Grants Pass School District #7 for four years.

He enjoyed working with wood and building furniture and cabinets and target practicing at the Josephine County Sportsman Association, where his nick name was “Strait Arrow”. He also enjoyed taking his RV camping.

In addition to his wife, Betty Williams of Grants Pass; survivors include two daughters, Tina Tedder and Brandi Sommers both of Conyers, Georgia; step-daughter, Tammy Hampton of Nehalem; sister, Janet Anderson of Le Roy, Illinois; two brothers, Gary Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Michael Williams of Cairo, Egypt; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his brother Scott Williams in 1995 and parents, Lee and Dorothy Williams.
