Jerry Hannon Vuncannon

June 12, 1939 — October 25, 2007

Jerry Hannon Vuncannon, age 68, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at his home of natural causes.

A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Bethel Christian Assembly Church (1095 Rogue River Hwy) with Pastor Shawn D. Smalling officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born June 12, 1939 in Huntington, West Virginia to James H. & Ramona Vuncannon. He attended schools in both California and Arizona and loved all school sports and excelled in football. He loved Nascar racing and was a mechanic on a Nascar Crew. From 1959 to 1965, he served in the United States Navy as an electrician. He served on the USS Interpreter, USN Avreasta, TI, SFAN and the General J.C. Brickenridge. On March 28, 1996 in Reno, Nevada, he married “Dee” Denelda Anders, who survives. He worked in the produce industry most all his life and retired from his own Produce Harvesting Company, Consolidated Produce Company. He retired to Grants Pass, where he owned and operated the River Shore Resort Motel on the Rogue River. He retired from the motel business to full retirement in 1998.

Jerry was a member of the Bethel Christian Assembly Church in Grants Pass.

He loved entertaining family and friends at home and cooking for large family gatherings. He also enjoyed remodeling homes, riding the river jet boats and he loved the drag races in Grants Pass.

Survivors include wife, Denelda “Dee” Vuncannon; father, James H. Vuncannon of Salinas, California; sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Garin of Salinas, California, 2 sons, Mark Vuncannon and wife Sandy, from Phoenix, Arizona and Jerry H. Vuncannon, Jr., of Grants Pass; three stepdaughters, Darra Clements and husband, Skipp of Watsonville, California, Gayle Jones of Florida, and Anita Hartman of Grants Pass; two stepsons, Brian and Clint Anders of Grants Pass and fourteen grandchildren.
