Jerome "Jerry" Mootz

April 3, 1931 — April 7, 2018

Jerome (Jerry) Mootz, 87, was born to John and Charlotte Mootz in Highmore,
South Dakota on April 3, 1931. He was the 7th of 8 children.

He moved to Lynwood, CA in 1943 with his mother and family. At 17 years old
he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Coos Bay, OR working in the
Communications Corp. He received an Honorable discharge December 15,
1952 and returned to Lynwood, CA where he worked for Hughes Aircraft then as
a lineman for Pacific Bell Telephone.

In 1960, he married Gwendolyn Perkins.

In 1968 Jerry, Gwen and their 3 children moved to Grants Pass where they
purchased the Motel Del Rogue. Shortly after that he obtained his Real Estate
License. In 1975, he opened Jerry Mootz Realty. He served as Chairman for the
Grants Pass Multiple Listing Service in 1977 and President of The Grants Pass
Board of Realtors in 1981. He also served as President for the Local Exchange
Club. He held multiple positions on the State of Oregon Realtor Association and
served 4 years on the Josephine County Planning Commission. He was
acknowledged by his peers as “Realtor of the Year and in 2005, he was inducted
into the “Realtor Hall Of Fame”. He finished his career at Southern Oregon Real
Estate and finally retired at age 82.

He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of
Columbus. He served as an officer for the local Elks Club, he served as a Big
Brother in the Big Brother Organization and was President of the St. Anne’s
Parents Club.

He was always proudest of his wife and his children. He is survived by his wife,
Gwen Mootz of Grants Pass and 3 children Pamela Geye of Grants Pass,
Russell Mootz and Andrea Reinhofer, both of San Marcos, CA. One grandson,
Justin Daniels, Portland, OR and two sisters, Mary Jorgenson, Cerritos, CA and
Jo Ann Gaskill, Victorville, CA.

Saturday, April 14th at 11:00
There will be a reception and food served starting at approximately 12:30 in the
church’s meeting room. Please come and share time celebrating this life well
lived.
