She was born July 9, 1927 in Santa Cruz, California to Jasper Hays and Rose Orman Hays. At an early age, she moved with her family to Grants Pass where she grew up on a farm, became an excellent horsewoman, and graduated from Grants Pass High School. After returning to Santa Cruz, she married George Talley and had four children while living there. After a divorce, she married Russell “Rusty” Sargent and they adopted a son. Russell had his own roofing company for which Jeannette did the bookkeeping. Upon retirement, they moved from Santa Cruz to Grants Pass 21 years ago and designed and built a house together. After his passing, Jeannette met John Burlington who was her constant companion to the end. Together they traveled and sought out new experiences for as long as she was able.

Together with her husband Russell, she volunteered years of service at Dominican Hospital Auxiliary in Santa Cruz, where they were well known for their tireless work.

Jeannette was a lifelong member of the Elks Club.

She loved to travel either by hooking up her 5th wheel trailer or taking cruises.

Survivors include four children, Cheryl Talley and her husband John Robinson of Kalispell, Montana, Carolyn Tanner and her husband Terry of San Jose, California, Randall Talley of San Jose, California, and Chris Sargent of Grants Pass; her loving companion, John Burlington of Grants Pass; six grandchildren including C.J. Sargent of Reno, Nevada; and many many great-grandchildren.
