James "Stretch" Shaffer

August 14, 1950 — July 4, 2014

James “Stretch” Shaffer died suddenly at his home in Sunny Valley.

He was born August 14th, 1950 in Iowa. He later moved to Wolf Creek in Oregon and became a fireman there. He loved his work but bad health forced him to retire early. At his home in Wolf Creek he raised his beloved hybrid wolves along with his many cats. He later moved to Sunny Valley.

He was a kind man from whom even strangers would receive a smile and a helping hand. We are all saddened to lose our close friend who helped so many people over the years.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Davis of Connecticut and his two nephews, Alex Davis of Argentina and Nathaniel Davis of Nevada.

Even though he never had children, he was loved by those he cared for while their parents worked. Uncle Stretch will always be in their hearts.

The pain from his long illness is over and we are consoled that he is now in the Hands of Our Lord.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
