James Phillip Scarantino Sr.

James Phillip Scarantino Sr, age 75, of Rogue River, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

James was born October 5, 1941 in Jamestown, New York to Sandy & Josephine (Lombardo) Scarantino.
After his father died when James was 9 years old, he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Joe Lemek. For six years, he served in the United States Army. He then worked as a police officer for 25 years in San Jose, California. After his retirement, he moved to Mississippi to live near his children. In 2012 he moved from Corinth, Mississippi to Rogue River.

James enjoyed gambling, especially slots. He was a prankster and loved to joke.

Survivors include three children, Jim Scarantino Jr of Rogue River, Oregon, Kathy Kruse of Temple, Texas, and Joseph Scarantino of Corinth, Mississippi; three sisters, Sandy Caeton of Rocklin, California, Barbara Perry of Sparks, Nevada, and Donna Caggiano of Longmont, Colorado; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Laurie Lemek.
