James Hamilton Cline

James 'Jim' Hamilton Cline came into this world December 21, 1929.
He always said his mother joked that it was the longest day of her life, so luckily it was the shortest day of the year.

Jim was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; the fifth of seven children born to George Errett Cline and Eliza Mae Travis.
As a youth, Jim moved with his family to Los Angeles, California and then to Grants Pass, Oregon.

After graduating from Grants Pass High School, he headed back to California, where he worked for a time, enlisting with the US Navy in December 1947.

He served as a Naval Engineer and Diver, and received recognition for his service during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged December 20, 1951.

He worked for and retired from Bates Plywood mill in Merlin, Oregon.

Jim was a hard-working, steady man and a gentleman, with an endeavoring spirit and great sense of humor. The legacy he leaves behind for his family is an example of the depth and worth of a human soul. A man who may not have had much in the way of worldly goods, but who lived a life of true wealth.

Jim Cline was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers and three sisters, his daughter Paula Cline-Jones, and his wife, Faye Emeryl Cline.

His legacy lives on in his sons Bill and Rob Cline, his daughter Carolyn Petersen, his six step-children; Terry, Randal, Steven, Lonnie, Jeffrey and Brian Logan and many, many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
