James D. Anderson, (aka Kenneth R. Cobbs) age 79, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Steve Burman officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born Kenneth Roland Cobbs on June 8, 1931 in The Dalles, Oregon to William Virgil Cobbs & LeDessa Irene Stewart Cobbs and later in life changed his name. He lived in Grants Pass most of his life. From the age of eight he was a part of the logging business until age 17 when he joined the military. From 1950 to 1954 he served in the United States Navy. He then worked with his family in the logging business and at lumber mills in Medford. He moved to Raymond, Washington where he worked for Weyerhaeuser until an injury. He later did odd jobs and drove school bus for Three Rivers School District-Laidlaw busing.

He attended Faith Baptist Church.

He authored books including a children’s book and a spiritual book in2010, Escaping Armageddon. He especially enjoyed reading science fiction.

Survivors include three children, Robert Walter Cobbs and Allen Wayne Cobbs both of Washington and Erica Fay Anderson of Grants Pass; a sister, Linda Ruth Howard of Montana; two brothers, Virgil Clair Cobbs and Maurice Duane Cobbs both of Idaho; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Scott Cobbs.
