James B. Moore

January 17, 1929 — November 27, 2018

James B. Moore, age 89, of Grants Pass, died November 27, 2018 at Royale Gardens.

James was born in 1929 in Yreka, California and spent his early years at Copco Lake. The family moved to Grants Pass around 1938. He entered the United States Navy during the Korean War and served on the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea as a jet mechanic. After his honorable discharge he returned to Grants Pass and worked at Fourply Plywood until his retirement.

In his spare time, James loved hunting, fishing, camping, and shooting his guns. Later, He stopped hunting because his heart just wasn’t in it. His real love was for guns and shooting and he helped start the Josephine County Sportsman Park.

He was much beloved by his nieces and nephews. He taught most of them how to fish, drive, waterski, shoot trap and play pool. He spent quality time with each and every one of them. They were the children he never had and he was patient beyond belief, kind, honest and generous to a fault.

He will be missed, but there is great joy in knowing he is the last to joining his parents, Cecil and Anna, two sisters, Dortha Cullison and Virginia Schrimpf and two brothers, Robert Moore and Richard Moore in Heaven.

God rest his soul

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2018 at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
