Howard Wilson Carter Jr., age 81, died Nov. 23, 2009 in Grants Pass, Oregon.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 19, 2009 in the Rogue River Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 2:30 pm.
Howard was born June 13, 1928 in Kodikanal India to Howard W. Carter Sr. and Nellie (Wineteer) Carter while missionaries in India for the Seventh-day Adventist church. Howard, until 13, grew up in India with his 3 sisters –Neva, Ellen & Eloise.
He graduated from LaSierra University in 1950 with a Bachelors Degree and Pacific Union College with a Masters Degree. His hobbies included; photography, camping and rocks.
In June 1950, he married Audrey (Manthey) in Riverside California to whom he was married for 59 years. He was a pastor, principal and teacher of several parochial high schools throughout his lifetime.
He raised three children – Raymond, Robert & Rosemary – and always kept his home open to others who needed a home away from home. He enjoyed traveling & camping going to 49 of the 50 states, including Alaska, and all provinces of Canada. When he retired in 1990, he went to Pakistan where he was principal of the Pakistan Adventist Seminary in Farooqabad Mondi near Lahore.
Surviving Howard is his wife, Audrey, 3 children – Raymond, Robert &
Rosemary, 2 sisters – Ellen & Eloise, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grand daughter.
He is preceded in death by both his parents and one sister – Neva.
