Hope Marie Loftin

November 17, 1922 — March 17, 2015

Hope Marie Loftin, age 92, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at her home.

Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

A memorial service will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bridgeview Church in Cave Junction. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Hope was born November 17, 1922 in San Francisco, California to Frank & Gaetana York. Hope was raised in the Bay Area, graduating from San Leandro High School. She moved to Southern Oregon with her husband and children in June 1974. She worked at J.C. Penney as a sales clerk. Together with her husband Hope also owned and operated Sunshine Bakery in Cave Junction.

She was very active in the community including volunteering at Lorna Byrne Middle School, Evergreen Elementary and the Senior Thrift Store. She loved Jesus and shared His love with all whom she encountered. She will be dearly missed as she was well loved by her family and friends.

For many years Hope was a member at Bridgeview Church, I.V. Garden Club, Mariners, Illinois Valley Quilt Club and Master Gardeners.

Hope volunteered at the local schools and cub scouts as well as her church.

Her hobbies included gardening and quilting. She enjoyed caring for her many animals over the years, especially her dogs. She also enjoyed baking, playing games and just spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Cathleen Donovan and husband Larry of Guerneville, California, Joan Sanders and husband Tom of Weaverville, California, Margo Bartow and husband Clarence of Merlin, Oregon, Craig Loftin of Elk Grove, California and Gae Tana Parker and husband Dennis Sr. of Cave Junction, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, Art Gates, Tanya Gates, Dennis Parker Jr., Daniel Bartow, Sterling Bartow, Jordan Parker, Samson Loftin, Sarah Loftin, Alia Parker and Zac Parker; five great-grandchildren, Veronica Wenger, Danielle Gates, Austin Parker, Justin Parker and Carmin Parker; brother, James York and wife Gladys of Sparks, Nevada;a sister-in-law, Versa Rydquist of Coos Bay, Oregon and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband Jack in 1995, her son, Dustin James in 1954; three sisters, Emogene Squires, Bernice August and Frances Smith and a brother, Robert York.
